Create goals from agent conversations

Private admin conversations with Business specialists and the Executive Lead can produce evidence-backed goal proposals. When you ask an agent to recommend goals, it draws on its saved remit, assigned KPIs and existing goal context to suggest outcomes worth pursuing. You review the proposal and, if it looks right, create a draft goal with a single action. Goal creation through conversations is additive — it does not assign agents to the goal, change KPI targets or expand any permissions. ## Before you begin - You must be a workspace owner or administrator. - The **Goals** module must be active in your workspace. - The agent must already be configured with relevant KPIs or objectives. ## Start a conversation 1. Open **Agents** in your workspace. 2. Select the Business specialist or Executive Lead you want to consult. 3. Open the **Conversation** panel (the chat icon in the agent's action bar). 4. Ask the agent to recommend goals. For example: *Recommend goals based on your existing data.* The agent uses its saved configuration, recent run history, KPI values and any existing goals (up to 30, checked for duplicates) to form proposals. It will not invent evidence or claim KPI results it cannot read. ## Review a goal proposal When the agent recommends a goal, it presents a proposal card in the conversation thread. Each proposal shows: - **Title** — the proposed goal outcome. - **Success criteria** — what a successful result looks like. - **Rationale** — why the agent thinks this is worth pursuing, grounded in the evidence it has access to. - **Evidence** — the sources (KPIs, runs, configuration) the agent used. - **Linked KPIs** — the KPIs the agent suggests attaching as key results. Up to three proposals can appear in a single response. The agent may suggest fewer if the evidence does not support more. Review each proposal carefully. The agent's suggested targets are proposals, not measured facts. Evidence freshness is shown as unknown when the underlying data does not provide a timestamp. ## Create a draft goal If a proposal looks right: 1. Select **Create draft goal** on the proposal card. Hub creates an owned draft goal with: - The proposed title and success criteria. - You as the goal owner. - Any KPIs the agent linked, attached as key results. - A record of the evidence used (agent context, KPI IDs and evidence snapshot). - Draft status — the goal is not yet active. Creation is transactional and idempotent. If you click **Create draft goal** more than once for the same proposal, Hub creates only one goal. Once created, the proposal card shows an **Open created goal** link instead of the create button. ## Edit and activate the goal After creation, open the draft goal to: - Adjust the title or success criteria. - Add or remove owners. - Set dates and a review cadence. - Configure KPI weights. - Add initiatives. - Add performance alerts. The draft remains unpublished until you change its status. Nothing is shared with the wider team until you are ready. ## Boundaries and limitations - A goal is only created when you explicitly click **Create draft goal**. The agent cannot create goals on its own. - The agent cannot link KPIs it does not have authorised access to. Only KPIs within its configured scope appear in proposals. - If a suggested KPI is no longer available when you click **Create draft goal**, Hub rejects the creation and asks you to request an updated recommendation. - Existing goals (up to 30 are checked) are shown to the agent to avoid proposing duplicates. If a proposal closely matches an existing goal, the agent will recommend the existing one instead. - Up to 30 business KPI definitions are included in leadership agent conversations. This is not a complete inventory for very large KPI libraries. - Conversations are private to the administrator who started them. Proposals are not visible to other team members until a goal is created. ## If a proposal is missing or weak If the agent cannot find enough grounded evidence, it will say so rather than invent a result. To improve proposal quality: - Assign relevant KPIs to the agent in its specialist or leadership configuration. - Assign goals as objectives in the agent's **Hub Compact workspace** so it has specific outcomes to assess. - Run the agent first so it has recent findings to draw on. - Ask a more specific question if a broad request returns no proposal.
